Who We Help

We understand! All of our clinicians have faced their own challenges with mental health concerns, complex relationships and family dynamics, or addiction. We can help you make realistic changes in your life that you can measure in a variety ways.

Healthy Hearts & Minds Counselling is a good fit for:

  • Couples who care about each other but feel stuck in the same arguments, emotional distance, or silence.
  • Partners rebuilding trust after a breach or big rupture in the relationship.
  • Stressed, high‑responsibility adults who feel anxious, overwhelmed, or burned out.
  • Parents navigating conflict at home, blended families, or kids and teens who seem shut down or on edge.
  • People going through big life changes—moves, career shifts, losses, or new stages of family life—and not feeling like themselves.

If you feel like you are struggling, you don’t have to figure this out by yourself. Together, we’ll slow things down, make sense of what’s going on beneath the surface, and take manageable steps forward.

HOW WE HELP

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Our CBT services help you see how your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours are connected so you can make practical changes that stick. Together, we’ll gently notice patterns like worry, self‑criticism, or avoidance and replace them with more balanced, helpful ways of thinking and responding. This present‑focused, evidence‑based approach gives you real‑life tools to manage anxiety, improve mood, build confidence, and feel more in control of your emotions.

Somatic Therapy

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Our somatic therapy services focus on the connection between your mind and body, at a pace that feels safe for you. We’ll support you in noticing physical tension, nervous system responses, and other body cues linked to stress, anxiety, or past experiences. Through simple, guided practices like grounding, breath work, and body awareness, you can begin to release stored tension, feel more present, and develop a greater sense of safety and balance.

Narrative Therapy

Our talk therapy services offer a calm, supportive space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and life experiences. You’ll have the chance to feel heard and understood while working through stress, anxiety, relationship concerns, life transitions, or difficult emotions. Together, we’ll gently explore patterns, build insight, and create practical strategies to help you cope, grow, and move forward with more clarity and confidence.

Narrative Therapy

Narrative Therapy

Narrative Therapy

Our narrative therapy services help you look at the stories you carry about yourself, your relationships, and your past in a new way. We’ll work together to separate you from the problems you’re facing, understand how those challenges have shaped your story, and uncover strengths and values that may have been overlooked. This compassionate, collaborative process supports you in rewriting unhelpful narratives and creating more empowering stories about who you are and where you’re going.

Family Therapy

Narrative Therapy

Couples Therapy

Our family therapy services, informed by Internal Family Systems (IFS), help families understand both their relationships with one another and the different “parts” each person carries inside. We’ll explore protective patterns, reduce conflict, and practice responding to each other with more empathy and understanding. In a supportive, non‑judgmental space, each family member is invited to feel heard and respected while you strengthen communication, connection, and emotional safety at home.

Couples Therapy

Narrative Therapy

Couples Therapy

Our couples therapy services support partners who want to feel closer, communicate better, and navigate challenges as a team. Together, we’ll look at the patterns in your relationship—including emotional needs, protective reactions, and the “parts” that show up in moments of conflict or distance. With gentle guidance, you’ll learn new ways to talk, repair hurts, and reconnect so you can build a more secure, respectful, and fulfilling relationship.

Frequently Asked Questions

Have a question that isn't answered here? Just email us at info@healthyheartsandminds.ca.

Healthy Hearts and Minds is an online counselling service. Just click here to book an appointment or check availability. Online counselling provides the most convenient access to properly trained clinicians in an environment that is comfortable for you. Although our clinicians are based on the west coast of British Columbia, by making all of our sessions online, we are able to service people all over Canada who may be needing support.

Yes. While Healthy Hearts & Minds Counselling is based in the Lower Mainland and offers secure online counselling to clients in Vancouver and throughout British Columbia, we are licensed to deliver online counselling services to anyone in Canada. You can meet from home, work, or another private space anywhere in the country.

We offer individual, couples, family, youth, and addiction‑focused counselling, using approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), somatic therapy, narrative therapy, talk therapy, and IFS‑informed family work. This lets us match the approach to your needs rather than forcing one method to fit every situation.

Many extended health benefit plans in BC cover sessions with a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC), but coverage varies by provider. We recommend calling your insurance company to ask whether they cover RCCs, how much per session is reimbursed, and what your yearly maximum is.

Yes. We provide virtual (online) counselling and offer some evening and weekend availability to make it easier to access support around work, school, and family responsibilities.

We regularly support clients with anxiety, depression, stress and burnout, relationship and family conflict, addiction and recovery, youth and parenting concerns, grief, and life transitions. If you are unsure whether your situation fits, you can book a free consult to discuss it.

Fit matters. We suggest looking at each counsellor’s training, areas of focus, and lived experience, and noticing who you feel drawn to. You’re welcome to start with one counsellor and, if it doesn’t feel like a good match, ask for a referral or switch providers; this is a normal part of finding support that works for you.

In your first session, we’ll talk about what’s bringing you in, your goals, any past counselling experiences, and what you hope will be different. You can also ask questions about our approach, and we’ll suggest a starting plan together so you leave knowing what the next step looks like.

Yes. We support people directly navigating substance use as well as partners and family members impacted by addiction. Sessions can focus on your own recovery, your role as a loved one, or a combination of individual, couple, and family work, depending on what feels most helpful.
